How FlowEngine is used
An administrator builds flows in a visual editor. Other users follow the runs and can complete steps that wait for a person.
A daily report without lifting a finger
A flow can fetch open deals and upcoming calendar events, put them together and save a summary. Each step calls one of Compass tools against your modules, so you need neither custom code nor a custom integration.
Pause for an approval
A step can stop the flow until a person has reviewed or approved something. The step is shown in yellow in the diagram, and an administrator clicks Complete task to let the flow continue. A flow can also wait for a time limit.
Start on an event
A flow can be started by an event, for example when a new customer is created. The run shows what started it and from where, for example through the interface or through an import. You can also run a flow manually to test it.
Follow up every run
Under Flows, every run is listed with its status, current step and what it belongs to. The diagram colors finished steps green, running steps blue, waiting steps yellow with a dashed border and failed steps red. Click a step to see what it received and what it returned.

How to build your first flow

Open Settings → Flows and click New flow. Drag steps from the palette on the left and connect them with arrows. Every flow needs a start event and at least one end event.

Let a step call one of Compass tools, or add a short calculation step. Also set what starts the flow: running it manually, an event that occurs or a recurring timer.

Save the flow. The whole diagram is validated on the server before it is saved, so a missing end step or a mistyped condition shows up right in the editor.

Turn the flow on and click Run for a test run. With Debug you set breakpoints and step through the flow. A flow must be active to run, and it can be locked so nobody changes it by mistake.
